Last weekend our club’s very own TLTs went to the Texas TLT Convention. [TLT stands for Teen Leadership Training, a special program for select teen Pathfinders to expand their skills and take on leadership roles in their local clubs and communities.] The TLTs and their SAIL club mentor headed to Lake Whitney for the great adventure! Even with camping in the cold weather they all managed to have a blast!

“It was one of the best camps I’d been on in a while!” Jasmine said. “Even with the cold air we got to meet so many new people and make new friends! I can’t wait to see all of them again during camporee!”

Many TLTs came to the convention from all different parts of Texas! Our TLTs got to meet and make friends with so many other TLTs.

Rachel says about the convention: “I had a lot of fun at the TLT convention. I met many different clubs from all over Texas and got to know them and spend time with them. I was happy to see so many people my age who are also passionate about pathfinders and doing Gods will.”

There were many activities for the TLTs that weekend. They went to classes to learn how to be great leaders, practice their drill, vespers, sing, played games, and of course worship.

“I liked [going to] the classes because I got to meet and socialize with other TLTs,” Jacob said. “It was a much needed experience, it was fun yet informational and useful. I’ll never forget it.”

One of the highlights for the TLTs was the rope course named “Odyssey.” It’s brand new and the TLTs there were one of the first groups to get to go on the course. Our TLTs had a great time on the course and all successfully passed through it!

“I feel like my favorite part was the rope course” says Lindsay, “But I feel like they could have made [the rope course] a bit more challenging. Overall, it was a good time.”

The TLT convention was another success for our TLTs, everyone had a great time (even with the very cold weather) and made many new friends! Cheers to another step closer to international camporee!

The SAIL Pathfinders hosted a Valentine's Banquet this past weekend as a social event and fundraiser for the upcoming International Camporee. Volunteers prepared a many-course meal and desert, decorated, and set up a photo station. The Pathfinders provided child care, served the attendees, and performed several musical numbers and poetry readings as entertainment with the dinner. It was a wonderful evening, highlighting positive relationships, delicious food, and our talented Pathfinders.

The SAIL Pathfinders sent two teams to the Central Texas North Area Pathfinder Bible Experience, giving them a chance to demonstrate their knowledge of the books of Joshua and Judges. Although our teams will not move on to the next level, the SAILs performed well, and showcased all they had learned from studying the two books. For several Pathfinders, this was their first year attending, and the experience they gained will be invaluable as they look toward next year's competition. At the event, the SAILs were also surprised to be awarded as a Texas Pathfinder Diamond Club for last year, a reflection of the commitment and participation of the SAIL club. After the PBE event, the SAILs stopped by their favorite joint for some ice cream - a well deserved reward.

This week, during our regular club meeting, the SAILs reviewed and practiced many of the skills in basic rescue - useful skills for our club outings. We reviewed why someone may need moved (and when not to move them), and practiced several different ways, using available materials, to move a victim from a secondary life threatening situation. Each year, we review and practice rescue and first aid skills, to ensure that our Pathfinders are prepared for any emergency situation they may encounter.

The Pathfinders also had the opportunity to taste test several samples of baked goods (including a homemade apple pie) that one of the Pathfinders made as part of their work on the Baking honor. Up next is our Valentines Day fundraiser banquet.
