The SAIL Pathfinders marked Global Youth Day 2024 through a special service and through a service/fundraiser project, though our outreach activity was postponed due to weather.
This year the SAILs led a special church service, including a skit by the Junior Unit about the trial of Samson (performed as a children's story), and a special four-part sermon by the TLTs, who presented different stories and sermonettes on the theme of deep waters, highlighting four ideas: overcoming fear, proper preparation, working together, and perseverance - both in our daily life, and in our spiritual life. Although we had to postpone our afternoon outreach due to the weather, the SAILS the next day got up bright and early and headed out to a ranch to help clear a new camping ground ahead of the April 8 eclipse. There was plenty of heavy labor, moving rocks to make a comfortable and safe space for campers. While they didn't see many snakes, there was a brief encounter with a scorpion. Some SAILs moved large rocks, others smaller ones, but all put in several hours of committed labor, ending only as the storm clouds rolled in to unleash another downpour.
