Our final SAIL meeting of the year featured Dr. Linda Carney, MD, as our guest presenter. The topic was food, and its impact on academics and athletics, skin and mind. In addition to discussing aspects of healthful eating, learning about studies on the impact of various foods on our moods, behavior and bodies, and seeing examples of the changes in lives based on changes in diets, we were also treated to a vegan no-oil low-salt feast, complete with appetizers, the main course and desert (always popular). The presentation opened up new ways of looking at our diet as more than just something tasty or an issue of weight, and instead highlighted the wonderful complexity of our God-designed body machines and the numerous ways what we eat truly does shape what we are. We would like to that Dr. Carney for her time and effort in bringing us this information (and dinner!). |

We brought rain again to Texas. It seems we have a new fundraiser - let us camp on your property and it will rain.
Even with the overnight rain and the lightening show, we had a great time over the weekend. The Explorers got to practice lashing to make a table for our wash basins, there was time for some casting of animal tracks (racoons and coyotes), rescue drills (with a few survivors this time), some time meeting some of our natural friends (no stings this time), and of course, root beer floats. |
