The SAIL Pathfinders carried out a can collection drive on Halloween to support the local food pantry. On sabbath, we handed out bags through the neighborhood, letting people know about the food pantry and the Pathfinder Club. On Wednesday night, we Picked up the donations, and one of the Church members hosted a small party for the Club. We would like to thank the generous neighbors who donated some 140 cans and jars, 30 boxes and bags of rice, beans, and pasta, plus a few dozen assorted food items, including baby food, and other items, including toiletries. These items have been donated to the food pantry, hosted by the Austin South Seventh-day Adventist Church in cooperation with the Capital Area Food Bank.

SAIL Pathfinders are back from the Camporee. Stories and pictures will be coming over the next few days.
We had a special Sabbath this past weekend. Anytime there is a fifth Sabbath, it is a youth Sabbath at Austin South, but this weekend we also had Adventurer and Pathfinder Induction ceremonies, and Texas Conference President Carlos Craig as our guest speaker, presenting the story of Samson. Although the rain prevented our planned outdoor induction program, we shifted to the indoor candle-light ceremony, and the storm clouds aided in keeping the sanctuary dark until the lights of the Pathfinders, together, brought brightness to the room. It illustrated our Club verse quite well: “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:14-16, NKJV) We are now preparing for the Southwestern Union Camporee up at Lake Whitney, October 4-7. |
