It has been a busy year this Pathfinder year, and we are now catching up with a review of our activities and events. Sorry for the delay!
September 13, 2015- The SAIL Pathfinders went to Windy Point at Bob Wentz Park on Lake Travis to participate in the Annual Lake Travis Cleanup. Unlike the last few years the lake was quite full. The Pathfinders reminisced about what it was like a few years ago while we were at the same park. The water had been so low at that time that we walked a very long way to get to the water’s edge. It seemed as though we were cleaning the very bottom of the lake. This time the water was close to the picnic areas. The kids broke up into groups to clean. The group which contained most of our new Pathfinders brought in the most interesting find of the day- a huge piece of Styrofoam which was part of a floating dock. (Though some thought it should have been the old traffic cone which was found to contain, after it had been picked up and headed for a trash bin, a huge wasp’s nest!) With the work all done, we all went to the after party hosted by the city of Austin. Drawings are held and prizes are given away. This year we had 5 members of our group go home with prizes!
