The SAIL Pathfinders had a great first meeting, getting to know everyone, practicing some drill, and then getting down to some wood working. This year we are starting off with some wood craft projects, learning and practicing several practical skills.
To help introduce the concepts, skills, and safety techniques for wood working, we were happy to welcome some guests to the meeting, both experienced wood workers, builders and carvers. It was great having them share their experience with the youth, and provide encouragement and assistance.
We have three initial projects planned - bookends, a sign, and a bird house. On this first night, we had a few cuts that weren't exactly 90 degrees, but it's all about practice, and by the time we get to the bird houses, everyone will be ready to go.
Coming up we will have our first overnight of the Pathfinder year, time to practice camping skills and camp cookery before out first campout later this year. Thank you for your continued support of the SAIL Pathfinder Club.
