And of course, this IS a Pathfinder campout— cue the rain. Had a couple of nice thunderstorms which flooded one of the 10 person tents. Fortunately the tent was empty at the time, so we didn’t have soggy bedding to deal with at least! Everyone seemed to have a great time, seeing old friends and making new ones. The food was great and the Coordinators and all who helped did a fantastic job to make this a successful weekend! We are always impressed a our teen Pathfinders step into stronger leadership roles, and seek out guidance to help them on their journey.

The SAIL TLTs (participants in the Teen Leadership Training program) joined some 50 other teens and their mentors at Bastrop State Park over the Valentines Day weekend to continue their training, fellowship together, and practice CPR. Our TLT’s learned about handling money for the club, church, and personally with some great advice and entertaining stories from the instructors. On Sunday a thorough hands-on CPR class was provided which was informative as well as fun for all. There was also March and Drill for those not in CPR class. The speaker for the event was the SAIL club’s home church pastor who used imaginative illustrations to make his points. For example, the TLTs were divided into three groups, each with a large cube puzzle to assemble in 5 minutes. No one could do it. It turned out that extra pieces had been added so it was actually impossible. The puzzle represents our lives and how impossible it seems to get it together on our own, especially when we may have brought extra pieces ourselves, such as friends who drag us down, or bad habit’s, etc. But the God who created us knows how to put the pieces of our lives together if we submit to Him and are willing to give up those extra pieces that don’t belong.
