 | The TLTs have been stepping into more significant roles in planning and leading throughout this year. Recently, the TLTs (Teen Leaders in Training) participated in a TLT convention to learn and share their experiences, and they took the lead in designing and carrying out the SAIL Pathfinder Club's participation in Global Youth Day. The SAILs, under the guidance of the TLTs, reached out to the youth and families in Austin, heading to several local parks to hand out donuts, snacks, water, and juice, to say HI, brighten people's days, and meet folks where they are. They also gave each person a small flyer with an inspiring message. They have plans for future outreach to use similar donut days to invite youth to sports nights or other activities, witnessing through friendship and involvement. One of the biggest challenges of the outreach activity? People were cautious to accept anything, expecting that there was a catch, a sale, or some other strings attached. Nope. Just wanted to show the city some friendship. |
