Factors that have caused animals to become endangered: Habitat destruction, Overexploitation, Introduction of exotic species, Pollution, Disease

Some recently extinct animals and the year they were classified as extinct: Tasmanian Tiger (1936), Golden Toad (1989) [IUCN Red List page], Caribbean Monk Seal (1952/2008), Bachman’s Warbler (1988) [See also: Recently Extinct Animals and Plants in North America and Extinctions in Recent Times]

Things that are being done to save endangered animals: Captive Breeding/Re-introduction, Land Conservation, Bans on Trade, Regulations on Chemical Use
